Below are Kin Interinsurance Network’s (“KIN”) recent regulatory financial filings, which are produced using statutory accounting principles (not GAAP) as compared to Kin Insurance Inc.’s financial statements, which are prepared in accordance with GAAP.

Kin Interinsurance Network is a reciprocal insurance carrier, which means that it is owned by its policyholders.  Kin Insurance, Inc. has no equity ownership of KIN, but Kin Insurance, Inc. does provide capital to KIN through surplus notes, and a subsidiary of Kin Insurance, Inc. manages KIN as its attorney-in-fact. Because Kin Insurance, Inc. funds KIN’s surplus capital and provides management services to KIN through one of its subsidiaries, KIN is consolidated as a variable interest entity and presented as a non-controlling interest in Kin Insurance, Inc.’s financial statements.
